President's Corner - Feburary 1, 2019

Hello!
I hope you are all faring well despite all of the cold and snow and snow and more snow we’ve been getting!  Many of you know me already but, for the sake of those who don’t, please let me take a moment and (re-)introduce myself.

I grew up in Ladysmith, WI – population 3,244.  My family owns a small manufacturing company where they produce chains for farming equipment and other industries.  Whenever we pass a freshly spread field my dad always says “MMmmm!  Smells like money!” because our chains spread the “love.”

I met my husband Aaron in 1995 and we married in 1998.  Together we have two daughters, Emma (19) who attends the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire and Grace (16) who is a junior at Northfield High School.  We also have a dog, a cat and four backyard chickens.

We moved to Northfield in 2007 and quickly fell in love with this community.  I remember our first visit here to look at homes was on Crazy Daze.  We spent the day shopping in downtown and taking advantage of all of the good deals.  I couldn’t believe how lucky we were to have landed here, and I still feel that way eleven years later!

Our Chamber has seen significant positive changes in the last four years and we plan on continuing that trend moving forward!  We value your membership and the investment you’ve made to be part of this great organization.
I used to joke with Todd that the Chamber and Tourism were like a mullet.  The Chamber was business in the front and tourism is party in the back.  I am lucky enough to be able to work on both sides and I can’t tell you how excited I am about that!   “Many hands make light work” and together I know we can take this organization to the next level!

I will work hard for you to help grow and promote your business and this community.   I am excited and honored to be on this journey with you.   I look forward to meeting with you and learning more about your businesses.

Sincerely,
Lisa Peterson
President
